Career Opportunities
Working as one team we will become the number one utility company in the UK by 2014
Why Choose NIW?
In short, we believe we are the best employer in terms of ethos, opportunity, conditions and reward. We offer an employment ‘package’ others would find difficult, if not impossible, to equal. Interested ? then read on….
Our Commitment to Excellence

As a new self-financing GoCo NIW is dedicated: to providing water and wastewater services which are second to none for the people of NI; to exceeding the challenging targets set by our regulator; and to fulfilling the expectations of our customers and stakeholders. In short, our aim is to be the number one utility company in UK by 2014.
To do all of this we need staff who are talented, motivated, committed and who enjoy a challenge.
Opportunities Available
As one of the largest companies in NI, employing over 1800 staff, NIW can offer career opportunities in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, science, accounting, ICT and administration. A key part of our workforce also includes a variety of craftsmen and industrial operatives.

We are proud of our people. We want them to be the best that they can possibly be and we are strongly committed to their personal development and welfare. For example, NIW is now a certified Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Training Partner.
Benefits
Financial
To attract, motivate and retain talented people we believe an attractive, flexible and rewarding pay structure is essential. The pay our employees receive reflects their contribution to the company. Performance and personal development are monitored closely. Those who achieve or exceed their annual objectives receive a performance award over and above their salary.
A variety of allowances is also available – for example for overtime, call-out, relocation
Holidays
Holiday allowances are generous. We offer a minimum of 22 and a maximum of 30 days holiday each year depending on level and length of service, plus public and privilege holidays.
Occupational Sick Pay
NIW operates an Occupational Sick Pay (OSP) Scheme. When staff are unable to attend work due to illness OSP is payable in addition to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). In effect OSP guarantees that staff on extended sick leave will receive full pay for up to 6 months and half pay for a maximum of 12 months thereafter.

Pension
The NIW final salary pension scheme provides a valuable range of benefits at a low cost to staff when compared to the cost of providing similar benefits from a personal pension scheme.
Employment Policies
The company enthusiastically implements its comprehensive range of equal opportunities policies covering issues such as harassment, equality, disability, work-life balance, maternity and paternity.
Employee Support
NIW operates an employee support service providing staff encountering addiction, bereavement, family, financial, health etc problems with an independent, confidential and professional counselling service on a 24/7 basis.
