Community Involvement

Community Relations

Northern Ireland Water, its Project Managers and Contractors work closely with local communities. Traffic disruption and noise are kept to the minimum through the use of state-of-the-art tunnelling equipment and construction methods. Regular updates on progress have and will continue to be provided to local people and key city stakeholders.

Wi ll I be inconvenienced?

Yes, there may be some inconvenience to you, but NIW and its contractors will work to ensure that any disruption will be kept to a minimum.

There may be some traffic disruption and access to streets and property may be restricted on occasions because of heavy excavations or placement of heavy machinery.

Site Safety

The safety of the general public and our workers is very important to NIW and our contractors. We ask you to follow the advice given in any warning notices and remember that construction sites are hazardous places especially for children. Please do not let your children play around the equipment and excavations.

All excavations in roads will be backfilled to the standard required by the Street Works (Northern Ireland) Order 1995. We will put paths and roads back to their original condition as quickly as possible. On some occasions, we may need to do a temporary repair and then make a second visit to the site to finish the work off.
