Watermains Improvement Work: Browndod Road Larne- Delay to work start date

Due to an unforeseen delay, NI Water would like to inform the public that essential watermains improvement work will get underway on the Browndod Road, Larne in late June 2015. This programme of work is expected to continue until mid-October and will then move onto the Raloo Road through to mid-November. This investment is good news, as the upgraded water mains will improve the quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area. Work will also take place in the Glynn area of Larne throughout June and July 2015.

In order to facilitate this scheme authorised road closures will be in place. Please be assured that access will be maintained for local residents and businesses. Diversionary routes will be in place and sign-posted.

Every effort will be made to minimise the extent of any inconvenience to local residents and businesses. Access to all properties adjacent to the works will be maintained at all times, with appropriate measures also taken to ensure the safe passage of road users and pedestrians.

During this improvement work, customers may experience a temporary loss of water supply or a drop in pressure when the work is being carried out. Discoloured water can also occur at times when the mains are disturbed. The discolouration will be short-lived, and running the tap for a while should help clear it from the system.
All water is treated to ensure it is safe to drink. Following operational activity, the level of chlorine in the water supply may be boosted temporarily. The amount of chlorine is carefully controlled and monitored at our treatment works and strategic points in the distribution system.
Water quality samples are taken following water mains operational activity to ensure that a satisfactory water supply is restored to customers.

Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on: 08457 440088 quoting Farrans Construction, Water Mains Rehabilitation Project.

The public are advised to stay away from the working areas for their own safety and NI Water would appeal for the support of parents to keep children and young people safe by explaining to them the dangers of playing in or around construction sites. Playing near our works areas can have dangerous consequences and we would like to spread this safety message throughout the area while we complete this programme of work.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction have completed letter drops in the area and would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while this essential work is completed and would like to assure you that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible with minimal disruption.
