The Water Procurement Section of the Engineering and Procurement Directorate is responsible for the procurement of construction works relating to water supply, water treatment and distribution. The Wastewater Procurement Section of the Engineering and Procurement Directorate is responsible for the procurement of construction works relating to the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater.

Purchasing Procedures
Procurement is based on Departmental Accounting Procedures and on National Legislation, EC Directives and International GATT requirements. The following is a guide to general basic requirements.

Orders valued up to £1000. One or two written quotations.
Orders valued more than £1000 to £10,000 Three written quotations
Orders valued more than £10,000 to £30,000. Four written quotations are required.
Orders valued more than £30,000. Tenders are requested - advertised in the local press, Contrax Weekly and on the NIW website.
Purchase of goods and services in excess of £279,785. Tenders are also advertised in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJEC).
Purchase of construction works in excess of £3,497,313 Tenders are also advertised in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJEC)
