Water Charging

Since April 2008, all non-domestic customers are subject to water and sewerage charges and trade effluent charges where applicable.

Non-domestic customers include farms; small, medium and large businesses; industrial users; voluntary organisations; charities; public bodies and churches as well as any property not intended for permanent household use.

Scheme of Charges 2009/2010

The legislation to implement the Government's policies on water reform came into force on 1 April 2007. This includes the establishment of Northern Ireland Water to a Government Owned Company (GoCo) to deliver water and sewerage services, the establishment of a regulatory regime for the water industry and the making of a charges scheme.
