Water Wise Rules

Every year Northern Ireland Water spends millions of pounds out and about repairing and replacing our water pipes and improving our water systems.

You will see the workmen wearing these sorts of clothes to stay safe on site!

Northern Ireland Water works hard to make its construction sites as safe as possible . . . but any work site can be dangerous.

Follow my 5 Water Wise Rules to stay safe!

Rule 1

Don’t climb on barriers and fences.
They are there to protect you from serious injury and accidents when water construction work is going on.

Rule 2

Stay away from trenches and open manholes. They are deep and dangerous. They may also contain poisonous gases.

Rule 3

Be careful near roads!

Never run out from behind parked cars, vans or lorries as you could be knocked down and hurt.

Rule 4

Keep clear of equipment.

You may see on sites such as diggers and lorries – you know it makes sense!

Rule 5

Don't touch!

Never touch building materials or play around pipes as they could do you serious damage.

Remember

Treatment Plants can be
dangerous places. So stay well away from them as you could be seriously hurt or even drown.

Never, ever go near a reservoir. It’s dangerous! Remember when you see a DANGER SIGN stay clear.
