Watermains Work to Begin In Whiteabbey

23 December 2009 10:44

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is commencing the second phase of upgrading watermains within the Whiteabbey area in January.

Given the scale of improvements being undertaken and in the interests of public safety, from 4 January to 11 January, a lane closure will be required on Doagh Road between Fernagh Road and Cloughfern roundabout. Stop/Go boards will be in use during peak daytime hours and temporary traffic lights in use over night. An alternative route will be in place using Monkstown Road, Jordanstown Road, Shore Road and Station Road.

From the 11th January to the 8th February a lane on the Doagh Road will be closed in one direction from Cloughfern roundabout to Fernagh Road. This will affect country bound traffic. A diversion route will be in place using O'Neill Road, Prince Charles Way, Manse Road, Doagh Road. An alternative route will also be in place using Station Road, Shore Road, Jordanstown Road, Monkstown Road and Doagh Road. Both routes will be clearly sign posted.

NI Water would like to assure the public that everything will be done to minimise disruption while this essential work is carried out. Once completed, the work will bring improved drinking water quality and security of supply to the area.
