Corporation Street to Re-Open

27 January 2010 8:33

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is pleased to announce that work on Corporation Street regarding the Belfast Sewers Project is now almost complete and the road will reopen to traffic on Monday 1st February 2010. This is good news for local businesses in the area as normal access will be restored.

NI Water would like to make the public aware that when the road reopens, the original one-way traffic system between Dock St and Clarendon Dock as well as the Bus only Lane will be reinstated. Therefore, all traffic joining Corporation Street from side roads or business entrances will be required to travel in the direction of Dunbar Link.

The Belfast Sewers Project has been one of the largest and most important infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Northern Ireland and represents our commitment to providing Belfast with a modern sewerage system capable of meeting the city’s existing and future development needs.

The scheme will significantly reduce the risk of flooding in Belfast; improve water quality in the River Lagan and Blackstaff River, as well as ensuring compliance with EU environmental standards.

NI Water would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and understanding throughout this essential project.

If you have any queries regarding this work, please contact Waterline on 08457 440088 and quote “Belfast Sewers Project.
