Sewer Improvement Work Between Ballyhalbert and Portavogie

03 June 2010 8:00

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) would like to notify residents of a planned closure of the A2 Shore Road / Portavogie Road near Ballyhalbert from 7th June for a period of 4 weeks. NI Water would like to apologize for any inconvenience for what is an unavoidable measure in order to lay pipe-work safely through a narrow stretch of roadway. The road along the coast from Ballyhalbert to Portavogie will be unavailable for through-traffic and all diversionary routes will be sign-posted. Access to residential properties will be maintained.

Access to Portavogie village via Warnock’s Road and New Harbour Road will not be affected and Portavogie businesses will be open for business as usual.

This is part of a wider £6 million programme of work to upgrade wastewater treatment facilities and infrastructure in the area. Some limited pipe-laying work will continue into August 2010 but will be able to make use of traffic lights.

NI Water would like to assure the public that everything will be done to minimise disruption while this essential work is completed. Any queries, should be directed to our customer relations team via Waterline on 08457 440088.
