NI Water Statement

01 January 2011 18:25

The number of homes without water across the North has dropped to 2,600, NI Water has reported.

The worst affected areas remain Cookstown, Hannahstown, Burren and Warrenpoint. Tonight it is expected that parts of Belfast as well as customers in the Ballygawley/Aughnacloy area will have their supply curtailed for a limited period. In the West of the Province the supply will be rotated between 22.00pm-07.00am and in the East of the Province the times will vary from 20.00pm-08.00am.

NI Water would condemn the vandalism which took place in Coalisland overnight which resulted in 5000 gallons of water released from a water bowser.

NI Water has some 500 staff on the ground dealing with supply issues and also checking for leakage in private and commercial premises which remains a major cause of concern.

NI Water would re-iterate its appeal to customers to check their premises for any damage to pipes and repair these as soon as possible.
