Watermains improvement programme gets underway in Antrim
31 March 2011 9:03NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in the Oriel Road area of Antrim. This work is good news for the area as the upgraded water mains will dramatically improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.
As part of this process, NI Water would like to advise the public that work is now underway on the Oriel Road from Monday 21st March for approximately eight to ten weeks. The work will involve laying a new water main between the junction of Station Road and the roundabout at Ballymena Road.
Unfortunately, as with all work of this nature, there will be an element of disruption, and it will be necessary to close the road to through traffic in sections on a temporary basis during this period. Traffic management including signage will be put in place throughout the scheme and the work will be completed in sections to minimise disruption. Diversion routes will initially be in place along the Steeple Road and will change depending on the section of work being completed.
There will be limited access to properties in close proximity to the works but NI Water and our contractor Lagan Construction Ltd will contact any residents affected in advance to make any necessary arrangements. We will make sure any restrictions to access are restored as soon as possible, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
We would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work and would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Lagan Construction Ltd Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme”.
