Watermains upgrade in Crossmaglen

11 August 2011 15:26

NI Water is currently engaged in a process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure throughout Northern Ireland. As part of this work, NI Water is laying a new trunk watermain on the Newry Road in Crossmaglen. This work is good news for the area as the upgraded water mains will dramatically improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.

As part of this process, NI Water would like to advise the public that the Newry Road in Crossmaglen will be closed to through traffic, from its junction with the A29 New Road to the junction of Drummill Road from 9.00am to 8.00pm, from Monday 15th August 2011 until Wednesday 24th August 2011.

Alternative route for through traffic will be New Road, Dundalk Road, Cullyhanna Road, Skerriff Road, Freeduff Road, Cloghoge Road, Carran Road and Newry Road.

Most of the work so far to lay this main has been carried out under traffic lights, however, this particular section is too narrow for work to be carried out safely and therefore a road closure is necessary.

NI Water and our contractor, Farrans Construction, would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work and would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

NI Water's customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Farrans Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme”.
