02 September 2011 14:07

NI Water is pleased to announce that Culmore Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) is scheduled to benefit from a £1 million improvement programme over the coming months. The work is scheduled to get underway at the Coney Road site in September and will last approximately 5 months.

The scheme will involve work at the existing site of the Wastewater Treatment Works which will improve wastewater services and enhance the capacity at the plant which treats wastewater for 150,000 people from Culmore and the surrounding areas.

Derek Eccles, NI Water Project Manager said: “The improvements at Culmore WwTW will benefit the local population and the environment, while ensuring that wastewater treatment in the Culmore area complies with all current Northern Ireland Enviroment Agency (NIEA) and European regulations now and in the future.”

The work at Culmore WwTW is just one of the many projects being undertaken by NI Water to improve wastewater services across Northern Ireland.
