£7m Watermains Upgrade for Cookstown Area
07 September 2011 16:44NI Water is pleased to announce a £7 million investment for the water supply infrastructure in the greater Cookstown area. This programme of improvements is set to get underway in the Cookstown area in late September 2011 and will last approximately 12 months. The work is good news for the area and will involve the replacement of approximately 110km of water mains, which will dramatically improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.
The work will take place in two phases, with one phase focusing on the area around Moneymore, including work taking place in the Loup and Orritor areas. The second phase will centre on the rest of the Cookstown District, with work taking place in areas such as the settlements of Kingsmills, Dunnamore and The Rock.
NI Water and our contractor Farrans Utilities would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work and we will make every effort to keep any disruption to a minimum. Some traffic management may be required to facilitate the works as the scheme progresses and if road closures are necessary, all relevant diversion routes will be appropriately signposted and local residents and businesses will be informed as necessary.
