Water mains upgrade in Belfast’s Antrim Road area continues

05 January 2012 11:41

NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in North Belfast. Once complete, this project will be good news for the local area as the upgraded water mains will improve the reliability and flexibility of water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.

NI Water would like to advise the public that work is due to commence on the second phase of the water mains improvement project on the Antrim Road during the week commencing Monday 9th January 2012. This phase of work will stretch from Parkmount Road to Bellevue Park on the citybound carriageway and from Downview Park to Our Lady of Lourdres Primary School on the countrybound carriageway. It is anticipated that this section of work will be completed by the end of April 2012.

Traffic management including signage will be put in place throughout this work; however, two-way traffic in the area will be maintained at all times. Temporary closures may be required on some junctions in the area, but diversions will be clearly signposted.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction will carry out letter drops in affected areas to advise residents of this work. We would like to thank the residents and the travelling public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work. There will be some disruption and delays at peak times while this work takes place, but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Farrans Utilities Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme”.
