£3.5m Hillhall Rd Watermains Upgrade

NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in the Lisburn area. As part of this £3.5 million investment in the area, we wish to announce that work is due to commence on the installation of a new watermain on the Hillhall Road on the 15th July 2012. It is expected that this work will continue until December 2012.In recent years, there have been several bursts on this road, which has resulted in problems with the local water supply and time-consuming repairs which cause delays for the travelling public. Once complete, this project will reduce the number of bursts on the road and will be good news for the local area as the upgraded watermains will improve the reliability and flexibility of water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.
The work has been planned to take place in the evenings to reduce disruption to residents and the travelling public, and the Hillhall Road will be closed from 8pm each evening (Sunday-Thursday each week) until 6am the following morning. Suggested diversion routes will be via Drumbeg/Ballyskeagh Road and these will be signposted. Access will also be maintained for residents at all times.
NI Water and its contractor Lagan Construction will complete letter drops in directly affected areas to advise residents of this work. We would like to thank the residents and the traveling public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work. There is likely to be some traffic disruption in the area due to the road closure and increased traffic on other routes. There will also be some unavoidable construction noise as the work progresses along the road but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption and noise to a minimum. All diversions will be clearly signposted.
