NI Water - Working for you During Covid-19
09 April 2020 12:19Water is essential in the fight against Covid-19 and NI Water are confident we are taking every step possible to maintain our services. Our top priority is to keep you and your families’ safe through the provision of safe drinking water and the recycling of used water back to the environment.
NI Water’s Director of Customer Service Delivery Des Nevin explains, “NI Water is following government health advice on social distancing to make sure our customers and our people stay safe. In light of this, we would like to reassure the public that we have carefully identified all non - essential work that can be rescheduled for completion in the future. To support essential work so that delivery of key water and wastewater services for our customers are maintained, we have introduced extensive safety processes. If you see our teams out working in your community, please be assured that this is only to ensure we can meet your water and wastewater needs.”
Every day NI Water provides 575 million litres of great tasting, safe drinking water and recycles 340 million litres of used water back to the natural environment. It costs around £460m each year to deliver water services in Northern Ireland. Thousands of assets at a value of around £3bn, are operated and maintained to provide these services. This includes over 40,000km of water mains and sewers - one and a half times longer than Northern Ireland’s entire road network and long enough to circle planet earth.
How you can help us to help you:
• We will avoid visiting your home during this pandemic, however, should we need to resolve an emergency issue, to keep you and us safe, please make our staff aware if you are self-isolating. We will also ask you to respect social distancing for our colleagues if they are on your property.

• Beware of Bogus Callers – if you are concerned about the identity of someone at your door, you can call the PSNI non-emergency number ‘101’ where you will have the option of a ‘Quickcheck’ to confirm the caller is from the utility they say they are.
• Do not let children go near work sites or equipment as these can be extremely dangerous.
