Are you up for a new challenge that will kick start a healthier lifestyle, give you more energy, flush out toxins and improve your concentration? Then join NI Water for #hydrationweek.

NI Water’s Outreach and Learning Officer, Anna Killen comments, “Hydration week is a 7 day hydration challenge starting Monday 4th May where we want you to try and increase your intake of water. Each day, we will be sharing little reminders on why it’s so important to drink water, along with easy tips and tricks you can follow to stay hydrated. For example, if you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding some fresh fruit to it such as lemon or strawberries.

“Research has shown hydration to be directly linked to a healthier immune system* and lucky for you, topping up with water has never been easier with world class water available at your fingertips.

“Water boosts productivity, concentration and energy.  If you are working from home, why not keep a water bottle within reach at all times, that way when you are taking a break, instead of reaching for the kettle, you can simply reach for the water bottle.  If you have children at home, keep their water bottles topped up with fresh water throughout the day and have them sitting at the table when doing school work and remind them water can help them concentrate.

“Same goes if you are using this time to exercise regularly, water is fuel for muscles, aids digestion and flushes toxins from the body.”

The importance of water for staying healthy has never been more important and now more than ever, we all must look after our mental health and wellbeing too. Over 75% of the body is composed of water and on a normal day, the human body can lose up to 4 litres of water through perspiration so the general advice is to drink 6-8 glasses.
