NIW focuses on helping people achieve their full potential and looking after them through all of life’s events, from their first foot on the career ladder via its apprenticeship strategy.
Our culture of learning and development starts at the beginning of their career journey via our double award-winning Entry Level Academy which we have grown and diversified over the last three years to 109 students representing 15% of NI Water workforce with a 97% retention rate. Other successful programmes such as Leakage Employment Accelerator Programme (LEAP) and upskilling initiatives like our Advanced Craft Electrician (ACE) Trainee programme have also helped those at the very start of their career, or those looking for a new vocation get the best possible start in their learning journey through personalised training plans and on the job learning – earning while they learn.
We have created a culture of learning and development at all career stages to enable our people to grow their skills and knowledge in ways that enable them to continuously improve and consistently produce excellence. A strategic focus on skills development helps ensures NIW is fit for the future through building critical skills and competencies and a strategic entry level bench to support the wider needs of NI Water now and in the future.
