Sewer Replacement Work Continues in Omagh

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is continuing with essential sewer replacement work in the vicinity of Tamlaght Road and Clontarf Drive. The work, which represents an investment of almost £2million by NI Water, will involve the installation of sewers along Tamlaght Road, Clontarf Drive, Mullaghmena Park, Great Northern Road and also along agricultural land. The current road closure on Tamlaght Road is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2010, while the entire programme of work is scheduled to be completed by June 2011.

This essential work will improve the infrastructure in the area, reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in the outskirts of Omagh town, meet Northern Ireland Environment Agency standards and enhance the sewerage system to meet future growth and demand in the area.

NI Water and our contractors Farrans Construction Ltd would like to assure the public that everything will be done to minimise disruption and would like to thank them for their patience whilst we complete this essential work. Associated traffic and pedestrian management systems are in place to allow the works to be completed in a safe environment. All diversions are well sign posted and NI Water will continue to liaise with Roads Service about the work and the current Tamlaght road closure.
