Services for Developers and Housebuilders

Northern Ireland Water recognises the importance of supporting development and regeneration and confirms its commitment to delivery of services for householders and developers.

Infrastructure Management is responsible for development of the water and sewerage infrastructure and provision of services associated with all aspects of development including first time service appraisal, diversions, extensions to the watermain distribution system and sewer network, build-over sewer approval, watermains in new development and adoption of sewers.

We are able to provide you with information relating to the available capacity in the local water and sewerage network, identify possible connection points and highlight potential issues early in the development process. Northern Ireland Water will also design and construct capital works such as pumping stations, sewers, watermains and all associated apparatus to ensure that developments are provided with the necessary infrastructure in time to match anticipated demand.

Whether you are seeking a sewer extension or a water supply, we will work closely with you to ensure you receive water and sewerage services in a timely and professional manner, in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Infrastructure Management aims to:

  • Respond to developer’s enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Be open and direct in our response to the issues you raise.
  • Work with you to ensure that the routine services you need are delivered in a reasonable time to support your new development and to agree when major infrastructure will be provided.
  • Ensure that our water and sewerage infrastructure supports new developments.
