This three-year Higher Level Scientific Apprenticeship, Research & Development (R&D) is designed to provide you with real life, on the job experience, to help you develop new skills and gain the knowledge needed to enable you to build a successful career in NI Water.
Based within NI Water’s ISO accredited scientific laboratories, this programme will provide world class training and skills development in key disciplines of microbiology, chemistry, and research and development which looks at new and innovative methods.
As part of the R&D team, you will get hands-on experience with method development, sample preparation and analysis in world class scientific instrumentation. You will also gain practical experience to develop and undertake water quality tests, learn to critically examine and look for trends in the data and applying it to the water quality treatment process. This is essential for public health protection in Northern Ireland.
Your training will be supported by an experienced mentor with the opportunity to earn as you learn, completing a foundation degree, debt free and an opportunity to become a member of a registered professional body.

This three-year Higher Level Operational Scientific Apprenticeship (HLA) is designed to provide you with real life, on the job experience, to help you develop new skills and gain the knowledge needed to enable you to build a successful career in NI Water.
We’re responsible for supporting wastewater treatment across Northern Ireland, and we’re excited to offer an opportunity for a Higher Level Apprentice to join our team.
This programme is designed to give you hands-on training and develop your skills in key areas such as microbiology, chemistry, and engineering principles for wastewater treatment.
As part of our fantastic scientific team, you’ll work with cutting-edge technology to monitor and improve the performance of wastewater treatment works, helping to protect the environment and public health.
You’ll play a key role in protecting Northern Ireland’s environment by travelling around our wastewater assets carrying out quality tests that ensure our wastewater treatment meets strict standards. You’ll also gain hands-on experience in sample preparation and laboratory analysis, using modern techniques and equipment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn. You’ll receive practical, on-the-job training, guided by a dedicated and experienced mentor, while working towards a debt-free foundation degree.

Our Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) in Construction Engineering Project Management is designed to provide you with real life, on the job experience, to help you develop new skills and gain the knowledge needed to enable you to build a successful career in NI Water.
You’ll be part of an industry leading infrastructure delivery team, helping to support critical national infrastructure across Northern Ireland.
You will work on a diverse range of construction engineering projects, critical to the smooth running of society and environmental protection.
This is a great opportunity for anybody with a passion for civil or construction engineering, seeking an exceptional career in the water industry. You will be supported with training, development and mentoring, working towards a foundation degree, along with gaining practical experience in an engineering environment, supported by an expert team of industry professionals.
