Depression in the Road - Cromac Street Belfast

08 November 2009 13:23
Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) can confirm that the depression that formed in the road at Cromac Street Belfast in the early hours of Saturday Morning, 7 November, is located above a storm water tunnel, which is part of the Belfast Sewers Project.

NI Water staff have been on sight overnight and working with the other utilities to establish the extent of the problem, fully determine the cause of the road depression and to begin remedial action to make repairs.

Work will include repairs to the existing storm water sewer and man hole and infilling, no other services have been affected.

NI Water anticipates that repairs will take approximately a week at which point Cromac St will be reopened. Traffic diversions will remain in place over that period.

The new Belfast Tunnel is unaffected and remains on schedule to open toward the end of the year.

NI Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to the public.
