Northern Ireland Water’s (NI Water) new £13 million Wastewater Treatment Works in Cookstown was officially opened today - Thursday 23rd April - by Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Chris Mellor.
The two year project included the upgrade of the existing treatment processes and brought the standard of discharge to the Ballinderry River into line with the latest European directives. The new state-of-the-art facility is capable of treating wastewater flow from a population of approximately 45,000.
