Lane closure on York Street Belfast to facilitate New Sewer Connection

16 June 2025 10:00

NI Water will commence work this week to install an essential new sewer connection on York Street. The work is to facilitate a connection for new student accommodation and will take place over two weekends: Saturday 21st June 08:00 - Monday 23rd June 06:00, as well as Saturday 28th June 08:00 until Monday 30th June 06:00.

There are no diversions required but the following traffic management and signage will be in place. This may cause delays in the area as four of the five lanes on York Street will be closed. We thank the public for their cooperation.

Multiple lane Closures will be in operation at the following locations:

·         York Street, Belfast: From Frederick Street to Little Patrick Street

·         Great Patrick Street, Belfast (Country Bound) From Talbot Street to York Street

·         Nelson Street, Belfast (City Bound) From little Patrick Street to Great Patrick Street

NI Water would like to take this opportunity to highlight to the public that construction sites are dangerous areas for unauthorised persons, especially children. Working areas will have warning signs in place to protect the public from any hazards. The public are advised to stay out of these working areas for their own safety.

NI Water and our contractor Meridian Utilities would like to take this opportunity to thank residents, businesses and the wider public for their patience and cooperation while we deliver this new stormwater system. We assure the public that we will strive to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe.
