NI Water has announced that a £6.5m programme of improvements at Caugh Hill Water Treatment Works (WTW) is underway. Once complete, the investment will benefit approximately 60,000 customers in Feeny, Limavady, Dungiven and the wider surrounding areas by enhancing drinking water quality and the security of the local water supply.

The significant programme of work, which is taking place within the site of Caugh Hill WTW, will involve upgrading many assets whilst maintaining live operations within the existing Works, such as replacing new pipework and upsizing essential pumps.

Speaking about the work, Eimear McDaid, NI Water Senior Project Manager said: 

“I am delighted to announce that work is underway on this major programme of essential upgrade work, which will improve the security of supply for customers and will also help enhance drinking water quality.

“This complex upgrade will continue while the plant is in operation, ensuring no disruption to our usual water supply services for our customers. 

“Work will continue until 2027 and will improve water services for customers for many years to come. This work will also be particularly important during emergency situations such as extreme weather to help protect essential drinking water supplies.” 

Murphy Dawson Wam JV is the contractor for this major upgrade, with ARUP providing project management support.
