NI Water welcomes continued progress in enhancing wastewater infrastructure in the Northwest

07 July 2025 13:00

NI Water welcomes the continued progress in enhancing wastewater infrastructure with the development of a new pumping station in the Skeoge area of Derry/Londonderry.

Currently advancing through the planning process, this project is set to play a key role in supporting future housing growth in the northwest of the city.

It builds on NI Water’s extensive investigation and modelling efforts in recent years, which have identified optimal solutions to address the area’s growing wastewater capacity needs.

The initiative is being carefully coordinated with other critical capital works—including base maintenance of the Strathfoyle syphons, the new Lenamore WwPS, and a new pumping main—to ensure seamless integration with the wider network transferring flows to Culmore Wastewater Treatment Works.

While this marks a positive step forward for the city’s infrastructure, NI Water recognises that sustained investment will be essential to meet the area's long-term development needs.
