Pipelaying Newcastle Road, Castlewellan

03 September 2025 12:00
3Rd

Pipelaying work is due to get underway tomorrow on Newcastle Road, Castlewellan (adjacent to Church Field Heights) following the completion of some ground investigations in the area earlier this week.

A lane closure will be in place around the working area as the pipelaying progresses towards the roundabout at Main Street.

Traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic which will be manned at peak times to reduce tailbacks.

The work on Newcastle Road - which will see the installation of a dedicated stormwater pipeline (to remove rainwater from the combined system) followed by repairs to existing sewers – will take around 3 months to complete overall. When possible, the traffic management will be removed at weekends.

NI Water and our project team from McAdam and BSG take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we undertake this essential work to strengthen the wastewater network and help reduce the risk of out-of-sewer flooding in the area. BSG will strive to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe.
