NI Water has commenced work on an essential new watermain upgrade on the Windyhill Road, Coleraine, which will improve the resilience of the local water supply network and benefit customers in Coleraine & the surrounding area. The work will continue for approximately 10 months.
A lane closure is currently in operation on the Windyhill Road under a traffic light system, with two-way traffic maintained at all times to help reduce disruption.
The new watermain supplies a number of key reservoirs in the area, ensuring the continued supply of fresh quality drinking water to our customers, including Carthall, Scone Hill, Castlerock Downhill, Toberdornan, Ballylagan and Maddeybenny Service Reservoirs.
Anna Delargy, NI Water Project Manager, said: "This major £3.5m NI Water investment will install a new section of watermain, which will help improve the security of the water supply for our customers, as well as enhancing drinking water quality.
“This new watermain will reduce the number of bursts and provide a more robust water infrastructure in the area. It will also be particularly important in a high demand or emergency situation to keep the water supply flowing in the area.
"NI Water and our project team from McAdam and Glanua Farrans JV thank the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential work is carried out."
