A lane closure will be in place between 9.30am and 4.30pm each day on a short section of Templepatrick Road, Ballyclare, from Wednesday 30th September until Friday 16th October to facilitate ground investigation works by NI Water.
Speaking about the work, Kieran Grant, NI Water Project Manager, said: "This ground investigation work - which involves digging a number of trial holes along the verge of the A57 between Station Road and Ballyclare Wastewater Treatment Works, adjacent to the Maxol Garage - is an essential step to establish ground conditions and the location of existing services to help inform the design of a scheme to upgrade the wastewater network in the area, which is planned to get underway in spring 2027.
"The work has been programmed to take place outside of peak commuting hours in a bid to minimise disruption and the lane closure will be kept as short as possible around each working area. Access to all business and residential properties will be maintained at all times, and bus stops along the route will remain accessible.
“As part of our detailed investigation works, our contractor Dawson WAM will also need to undertake trial holes in the Station Road area. We will provide details of this work along with the necessary traffic management to residents, businesses and the wider public once traffic permits have been approved and the work has been programmed.
"NI Water and our project team from Dawson WAM and AECOM take this opportunity to thank businesses, residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation while this essential ground investigation work is carried out. We will do everything we can to minimise disruption and complete the trial holes in the shortest possible timescale.
“Going forward, and once the pumping main replacement scheme has been fully designed, we will provide updates to local stakeholders on a future programme of work.”
