A magical portal to the Mournes will open next week as NI Water teams up with Mourne Heritage Trust, National Trust and local groups to deliver a series of events.
Enchanting locations such as Water Town and the majestic Mourne Wall will be brought to life during a week of guided walks, tours and family events.
NI Water will be hosting an evening talk and walk on the area’s industrial and engineering heritage at Silent Valley Mountain Park on Thursday, July 2.
There will also be tours of Fofanny Water Treatment Works where visitors can walk around the works and find out the processes that go into the simple act of turning on our taps.
Gary Presho, NI Water Area Supply Manager, said: “Mournes Week is a fantastic opportunity to open a window into the rich history, engineering achievements and ongoing conservation work that make this area so special.
“From the legacy of Silent Valley and the stories of places like Water Town, to the vital environmental work happening across the uplands today, we’re proud to work alongside the Mourne Heritage Trust and other partners through Forever Mournes to help people connect with, understand and protect this remarkable landscape for generations to come.”
