As pupils return to classrooms, NI Water’s education team is also back on the road, ready to bring the Wonderful World of Water to schools for another busy term.

NI Water’s free education programme helps pupils learn more about where their water comes from, how it is cleaned, why it matters, and the small everyday steps everyone can take to use water wisely and protect the environment.

Schools can request classroom workshops and assemblies, as well as visits to NI Water’s education centres at Silent Valley and the Wastewater Heritage Centre in Belfast. 

Anna Killen, NI Water’s Education Officer, said: “The start of a new school year is always an exciting time for the education team and we are delighted to be invited back into classrooms across Northern Ireland.

“Our sessions are designed to be fun, engaging and informative, helping pupils understand the journey of water from source to tap, the science behind clean drinking water and the important role we all play in protecting this precious resource.

“After a brilliant summer meeting young people at events and supporting school and community gardening projects with water butts, we are ready for the busy school year ahead. Our diary is filling up quickly, but there are still a limited number of spaces available, so we would encourage teachers to get in touch as soon as possible.”

The NI Water education programme supports teachers in the delivery of the school curriculum and encourages interest in STEM subjects, sustainability, climate change, plastic pollution and water efficiency.
