NI Water is encouraging customers who may need extra support to sign up to its free Customer Care Register helping households prepare for shorter days and colder weather.
The Customer Care Register helps NI Water understand customers’ individual needs and provide the right support if they experience an interruption to their water supply or need additional assistance when engaging with the company.
Customers may benefit from joining if they have a disability, health condition, specific communication needs, or if their personal circumstances mean they need extra help. This could include people dealing with a difficult life event such as bereavement, or those who may need someone else to speak to NI Water on their behalf.
Support available through the register can include a password scheme to help customers identify NI Water representatives visiting their home, a carer’s contact service where a named carer or relative can contact NI Water on the customer’s behalf, and prioritisation for bottled water if a customer loses water supply to their home.
NI Water Customer Experience Manager Ruth Simpson said: “Autumn and winter can bring additional challenges for customers, particularly those who rely on extra support because of their health, personal circumstances or communication needs. By joining our Customer Care Register now, customers can tell us what support they need so we can be better prepared to help if their water supply is interrupted.
“The register is free to join and there are a number of simple ways to sign up - through live webchat at www.niwater.com, or by calling Waterline on 03457 440088. Customers with hearing difficulties can also use Typetalk through Waterline, and our team will explain what help is available.”
Signing up to the Customer Care Register does not provide financial support or discounts, but it ensures NI Water can record customers’ needs and offer practical assistance where possible.
NI Water also offers a free text alert service which helps customers stay informed about planned and emergency interruptions to their water supply. By signing up, customers can receive timely updates straight to their mobile phone, including details of any disruption, expected restoration times and when supplies are back to normal.
