NI Water will be carrying out emergency repair work to the sewer on Belfast Road, Carrickfergus close to Model Primary School.
Commencing on Saturday 28th March 2026, the estimated date and time for completion of the works is midnight on Sunday 12th April 2026.
Inspections of the combined foul and storm sewer have confirmed it requires immediate repair work to ensure it continues to function and serve the properties in the area.
Phase one will take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March. This will include a one lane closure in both directions between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands, with delays expected.
Phase two will take place between Wednesday 8th to Sunday 12th April, with various traffic management in place over the five day duration to accommodate a full road crossing.
Phase two will include the below in stages:
- a contraflow in place between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands
- a lane two closure in place for both directions between Windmill Avenue & Castlerocklands
- Lane 1 closure Carrickfergus bound between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands
During all phases of works there will be a banned right turn out of Windmill Avenue, traffic will be diverted Via the roundabout at Rodgers Quay.
Please expect delays at peak times and allow extra time for your journey.
