Around 35 NI Water staff helped refill more than 10,000 reusable water bottles for approximately 20,000 visitors at the company’s Tap House stand during this year’s Balmoral Show. They worked together to keep visitors hydrated while promoting the benefits of drinking fresh tap water.

Representatives from across the organisation – including field staff, scientists, customer support, and human resources – engaged with customers on a wide range of topics. These included water quality, connections, septic tanks, wastewater treatment, identifying on-farm leaks, as well as apprenticeships and career opportunities at NI Water.

The Tap House gave showgoers the opportunity to enjoy high-quality drinking water, learn how it is treated and tested, and pick up a free reusable bottle. The initiative is part of NI Water’s efforts to tackle the estimated 420 million single-use plastic bottles used across Northern Ireland each year.

Since launching in 2019, the Refillution campaign has distributed more than 60,000 reusable bottles, helping to reduce plastic waste and protect waterways and marine life.
