NI Water was delighted to open the doors of its Carmoney Water Treatment Works (WTW) to Eglinton Men’s Shed recently to show the expertise that keeps the region’s drinking water safe.
The visit shone the spotlight on the vital role scientific innovation and collaboration play in protecting public health and supplying customers across the wider Derry/Londonderry and Strabane areas.
The guided tour explored the sophisticated processes, technology and specialist knowledge involved in treating water to the highest standards before it reaches homes, schools and businesses.
Anna Killen, Education Officer with NI Water said: "We were thrilled to welcome Eglinton Men’s Shed to Carmoney WTW. NI Water scientists and water process supply technicians gave an insight into the day-to-day operations involved in maintaining water quality so that it consistently meets strict regulatory standards. The group was so appreciative of the visit and gained a valuable insight into the world behind the water that comes out of our taps.”
