NI Water has joined forces with Step NI to help Mid Ulster households save water, energy and money.
NI Water is working with the rights-based community organisation through the Mid Ulster Advice Plus Programme to help local people make simple changes that can reduce water and energy use and ease pressure on household bills.
As part of the partnership, NI Water has provided shower timers for Step NI clients. The timers offer a practical way to keep showers shorter, helping households use less hot water and reduce the energy needed to heat it.
NI Water Education Officer Anna Killen said: “Small, everyday actions can add up to meaningful savings. Using a shower timer is an easy way for households to become more aware of how much water and energy they use, without making major changes to their routine.
“We are delighted to work with Step through the Mid Ulster Advice Plus Programme and to support its wider work helping people manage household costs. By working together, we can help communities make informed choices that are good for their finances and for the environment.”
Step’s holistic wraparound service supports people across Mid Ulster to access advice on benefits, debt, budgeting, money management and other financial wellbeing needs. The collaboration with NI Water complements this support by giving clients a simple tool to help reduce household water and energy use. The Mid Ulster Advice Plus Programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
