NI Water education officer Anna Killen is pictured at the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Mayor’s Carnival Parade and Family Fun Day when over 200 people took the NI Water pledge to refill from the tap and take shorter showers.

Anna said: “It’s amazing to think that each day each person uses around 170 litres of water! However, saving water can be really easy and there are simple things we can all do that can make a huge difference.

“Did you know that the average time people in Northern Ireland spend in the shower is 9 minutes? And every year in Northern Ireland, around 420 million single-use plastic bottles are used.

“Small actions like taking shorter showers and choosing to refill a reusable bottle from the tap can have a really impact to help reduce water wastage and plastic waste.”
