NI Water wishes to inform the public that the planned essential maintenance works to the playpark at Silent Valley Mountain Park will commence on a phased basis within the next two weeks with an estimated competition date of Friday 3rd April 2026, weather dependent.
The scheduled works were previously delayed due to exceptionally heavy rainfall, which left the ground saturated and unsafe for heavy machinery to operate. The ground conditions have now improved and are considered suitable for work to commence.
This essential maintenance work is necessary to ensure that the play park remains a safe and enjoyable space for all. Visitors can enjoy our café, education centre, and the Mourne shuttle bus remain open throughout the duration of the maintenance work. Most of the trails are open with the exception of the heritage trail, which is partially closed following damage caused by previous storms, however sections of the trail remain accessible, and visitors are asked to follow all on-site signage for guidance.
NI Water’s Facilities Manager Paul Lenzi said: “We hope to resume maintenance activities in the coming weeks, as soon as conditions allow safe access for machinery.
“In the meantime, we advise visitors to monitor NI Water’s social media channels for updates on the reopening of the play park. We would like to also take this opportunity to thank the public for their understanding, patience and continued support while we work to deliver these improvements for the benefit of all who enjoy Silent Valley.”
