NI Water’s project team working on the Moyola to Mullaghboy Trunk Main Project is delighted to have been presented with a Considerate Constructors Scheme Silver award for being “good neighbours” in the local community throughout a recently completed Water Infrastructure Improvement Scheme. The scheme involved the improvement of a key water trunk main connecting Moyola to Mullaghboy to maintain and upgrade the water supply infrastructure to benefit customers in the wider Magherafelt Area well into the future.
The team worked hard throughout the two-year programme, engaging with local residents and businesses, planning works to minimise disruption, keeping sites tidy and safe, and responding quickly to community queries. Proactive communication took place ahead of works with careful traffic and site management to maintain access, with prompt responses to any issues raised by local residents and businesses.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards are prestigious accolades in the UK construction sector, recognizing firms that raise industry standards regarding community, environment, and the workforce and the project beat competition from a number of construction sites across the UK.
Gary McFadden, NI Water’s Senior Project Manager said:
“I was delighted to be part of the team presented with this prestigious award and would like to extend my warmest congratulations to GRAHAM Construction & WSP.
“The project team completed the challenging 2-year water infrastructure improvement scheme, with work completed in a safe and respectful manner with high standards of workmanship demonstrated at all times. Just as importantly, we worked hard to be good neighbours in every community we operated in - communicating clearly in advance of key activities, listening and responding to concerns, and taking practical steps to minimise disruption while protecting the local environment.”
“This is a recognition of our contractor and project team's efforts to be the most considerate neighbours. We created additional value in the communities surrounding us and were respectful of the public, workforce, and the environment throughout construction.
“NI Water is proud to work alongside this calibre of contractor to deliver our extensive portfolio of capital delivery water and wastewater projects across Northern Ireland.”
