Sewer Improvement Work to Begin In Creggan Area

15 February 2011 8:18

NI Water, as part of its ongoing Drainage Area Plan for the city, is about to commence work in the Creggan area on the 28th February 2011.

Areas affected include:

- Westland Street, Fanad Drive, Central Drive, Bligh’s Lane
- Dunree Gardens & Eastway Gardens
- Southway & Rathlin Drive
- Highpark area
- Southway & Lislane Drive

The work will commence in Dunree Gardens on the 28th February and will then move into Lislane Drive, High Park and Bligh’s Lane. The entire programme of work will be completed by April 2011 and is part of a programme of essential improvements to the sewerage infrastructure in the Creggan and wider Londonderry area. This work will reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding, and will meet the city’s existing and future development needs.

NI Water and its contractor, Shearwater Consortium are working closely with Roads Service to ensure that any disruption to local residents and businesses is kept to an absolute minimum while this essential work is carried out. Unfortunately, there will be an element of traffic disruption in the areas mentioned above, and we would like to thank the public in advance for their patience, and assure them that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.

If you have any queries regarding this work, please contact Waterline on 08457 440088 and quote “Londonderry Drainage Area Plan: Sewers Rehab-West of the Foyle”.
