Antrim Road Watermains Upgrade

19 September 2011 14:55

NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in North Belfast. With winter fast approaching, this work is good news for the area as the upgraded water mains will improve the reliability and flexibility of water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.

NI Water would like to advise the public that work is due to commence on Monday 26th September on Antrim Road at the North Circular Road junction. Work will be completed in sections and the first section of work will involve laying new water mains between North Circular Road and Innisfayle Park (country bound) for a period of three weeks.

Work will then continue in October from the junction at Landsdowne Road to the junction with Downview Avenue (city bound). This work will continue until November and will re-commence in January 2012 to facilitate the busy Christmas period and Roads Service Christmas embargo.

Traffic management including signage will be put in place throughout this work; however, two-way traffic in the area will be maintained during daytime and peak times. There may be some delays in the area at peak times.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction will carry out letter drops in affected areas to advise residents of this work. We would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work. There will be some disruption while this work takes place, but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Farrans Utilities Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme”.
