Night Time Road Closure: Dublin Road, Newry

05 March 2012 11:22

NI Water is currently engaged in a process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure throughout Northern Ireland. As part of this work, NI Water is in the final stages of a watermain replacement scheme on the Dublin Road in Newry. This work is good news for the area as the upgraded water mains will dramatically improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.

In order to complete works in the vicinity of the railway bridge, NI Water would like to advise the public that the Dublin Road in Newry will be closed from the Chancellors Road junction to the junction with Cloghogue Roundabout. The road will be closed at night time to through traffic, from 8.00pm – 6.00am, from Sunday 11th March until Saturday 17th March 2012. The work will then start again 8.00pm – 6.00am from Monday 19th until Saturday 24th March. The road will reopen each morning at 6.00am. The road will also remain fully open over the St Patrick’s Day weekend.

Please note that this work will be completed at night to minimize disruption for the local residents and businesses in the area and access to all properties on the Dublin Road will be available from the Newry side throughout the closure times. Signage will be in place and a diversion route will be signposted for the travelling public.

NI Water and our contractor, Farrans Construction, would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work and would like to assure customers that we will do everything we can to complete this essential work as quickly as possible.

NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Farrans Water Mains Rehabilitation Programme”.
