Water Mains Improvement Beersbridge Road, Belfast

05 March 2012 14:12

NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in the East Belfast area. As part of this project, works are due to commence on the Beersbridge Road on Tuesday 6th March and are expected to last for approximately 3 weeks.

A new water main will be laid between the junction with Upper Newtownards Road and the junction with Bloomfield Road. Due to the position of the new main in the carriageway, it will be necessary to put in place a temporary one way system whilst the works are being completed.

In order to minimise disruption, the works will be completed in two stages:
The first stage will be between the Upper Newtownards Road junction and Martinez Avenue. During this time, traffic wishing to travel in the direction of the Castlereagh Road will continue as normal. However, traffic wishing to travel to the Upper Newtownards Road, will be diverted via Martinez Avenue, North Road and the Upper Newtownards Road.

Once this section has been completed, stage two of the works will then commence between Martinez Avenue and Bloomfield Road. Once again, traffic wishing to travel in the direction of Castlereagh Road will continue as normal. However, traffic wishing to travel to the Upper Newtownards Road will be diverted via Bloomfield Road, North Road and Upper Newtownards Road.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Utilities would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation during this vital improvement work and every effort will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum. Relevant signage will be in place regarding any traffic diversions. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline: 08457 440088.
