Sewer Improvement Work gets underway at Park Road/Garvaghy Road, Portadown

21 May 2012 11:51

NI Water would like to inform customers that construction work will shortly commence on essential sewer improvement work in the Park Road and Garvaghy Road area on the 26th May 2012.

This essential upgrade work will improve the sewerage infrastructure and reduce the risk of ‘out of sewer flooding’ to both commercial and residential properties in the area.

Work is currently ongoing in the Water Street area and will approach the Garvaghy Road/Park Road junction. The proposed sewer works will continue from this point up to the People’s Park and is expected to last approximately 6 weeks. During this time all possible steps will be taken to minimise the potential disruption to local residents in the area.

In order to facilitate the project it will be necessary to close Garvaghy Road and Park Road to through traffic for a period of time. These closures will be undertaken in two phases:

Ӣ Phase 1 РGarvaghy Road closure from 26th May to 28th May 2012 (inclusive) to enable sewer construction from Water Street to Park Road.

”¢ Phase 2 - Park Road closure from 6th June to 6th July 2012 to enable sewer laying from Garvaghy Road to People’s Park.

Vehicular access will be maintained at all times for residents of Park Road, King Street and Whitten Close. Pedestrian access from Garvaghy Road to Park Road will be maintained throughout the construction period.

Motorists are advised to be extra vigilant of pedestrian movements during the construction period.

NI Water and our contractor BSG Civil Engineering would like to thank the public for their patience and give our assurance that we will do everything possible to complete this essential work as quickly as possible with minimum disruption.
