Sydenham Wastewater Pumping Station Public Information Session: 27th October 2016

26 October 2016 11:30

NI Water is pleased to confirm that we have completed a major £4 million programme of improvements and refurbishment at Sydenham Wastewater Pumping Station, which has been ongoing since 2011. Following this improvement work, the station has been performing reliably and there is no longer a need for the continuous presence of an on-site supervisor. We will of course continue to monitor the station closely, but will no longer have 24 hour on site monitoring in place.

Starting at a date after 31st October 2016, the Sydenham Wastewater Pumping Station will be inspected three times a day and every day thereafter. To provide further reassurance to the public, staff will also attend the site in the event of an official Met Office weather warning.

Local residents are invited to an informal “drop-in” information session at Strand Presbyterian Church Hall. During this session NI Water will update local residents on the major refurbishment work that has been completed, the plans to monitor the station, as well as outline plans for investment in the future station.

The details are as follows:

Date:        Thursday 27th October
Time:       “Drop-in” session - any time between 5.30pm and 7.30pm
Location:  Strand Presbyterian Church Hall
                 161 Connsbrook Avenue
                 Belfast
                 BT4 1ND
