Information Event – Greystown/Malone Flood Alleviation Scheme - Wednesday 1 February 2017

23 January 2017 12:13

Northern Ireland Water is currently completing the detailed design of a major flood alleviation project for the Greystown/Malone area of Belfast.

This project is being carried out to help resolve ongoing internal and external flooding issues within the area. The scheme will involve the upgrading of the existing combined sewer and the Rivers Agency culvert from Upper Malone Road to Finnis Close.

As part of the preparations for the scheme, NI Water would like to invite the public along to an information event, where residents, business owners and the public are welcome to come along to find out more about the overall project and discuss the proposed construction works. Members of the NI Water project team will be available at any stage between 5pm and 7pm to discuss the scheme in further detail.

Date:   Wednesday 1 February 2017
Time:  “Drop in” event 5.00pm – 7.00pm

Venue: Finaghy Community Centre
            1 – 6 Geeragh Place
            Finaghy Road South
            Belfast
            BT10 0ER

It is currently anticipated that this project will go to tender in Spring 2017. However, NI Water will issue further information once the timescales have been finalised.

This project is being carried out in collaboration with Rivers Agency, and when complete will reduce the risk of ‘out of sewer’ flooding and environmental pollution in the area.
