Forget about lazing around the house on Sunday 20th August, why not pack up the family and head to Silent Valley Mountain Park in Kilkeel from 1-5pm and enjoy NI Water’s family fun day!

In co-operation the Mourne Landscape Partnership, NI Water will be hosting the latest of our famous family fun days at the beautiful Silent Valley with plenty of activities on offer.

Anna Killen, event organiser NI Water, said: ‘‘As always, our Silent Valley event is a not to be missed extravaganza for all the family, with something for everyone. The Darragh Folk band will be providing toe-tapping music for you to swing your partner to all afternoon, along with the ever-popular Babcock and Bobbin kids’ entertainers alongside face painting and glitter tattoos.

‘‘Even the culture vultures are accounted for – we also have black smith and woodturning demonstrations organised by the Mourne Landscape Partnership, as well as storytellers with stories of what life was like for those who constructed the dam as a water site nearly 100 years ago.

‘‘There’s no better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than in the wonderful surroundings of Silent Valley, being serenaded and enjoying the many activities!”

Camilla Fitzpatrick, Scheme Manager for the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership, commented “We are delighted to partner with NI Water to raise awareness of the rich industrial and cultural heritage of this amazing site”.
