NI Water scores a goal with desktop donation to Youth Football Academy | NI Water News

NI Water have teamed up with Larne Football Club’s Youth Academy, donating 24 pre-loved desktop devices for the club’s own Scholarship Programme, as part of the wider ‘Laptops for Larne’ initiative.

The 24 devices have been set up in a new technology centre, based at the Cliff in the town and has been named the NI Water Education Suite. It will give junior footballers at the Brighter Futures Football Academy, greater opportunities to benefit from new technology; the wider community will also score a home goal as they are also welcome to improve their keyboard skills.

NI Water’s Desktop IT Manager Lisa Toogood says “We wanted to leave a legacy for the pupils and enhance the IT facilities, not just for the students but for the wider community in Larne.”

Speaking about the partnership, General Manager Larne Football Club Niall Curneen said: “We are extremely thankful to NI Water for their contribution of 24 desktop devices, which has made a massive change to the way our Scholarship Programme can function on a daily basis alongside providing a learning hub to benefit the entire community.

“Since the instalment of the desktops, we have been able to move our students to The Cliff permanently, which is a vastly improved learning environment and we are already seeing the benefits of this in their work.”
