NI Water recently held their annual schools award ceremony celebrating the artistic talents of Key Stage 2 pupils from across the country. Finalists along with their parents and teachers joined NI Water’s Chief Executive Sara Venning and Outreach and Learning Officer Anna Killen, rewarding them for their fantastic creations about saving water.

NI Water’s Chief Executive Officer, Sara Venning comments: “I would like to congratulate all the entries in this year’s NI Water’s school’s poster competition. Each and every entry had an important message and all displayed great artistic talent which I am sure made it a difficult task for the judges. This year’s theme was ‘Save Water, Save Energy and Protect the Environment’ highlighting the link between water, energy and the environment.

“NI Water cleans 605 million litres of water a day! It is an expensive process to clean and transport the water we use daily and the water treatment process also uses huge volumes of electricity and energy. NI Water is passionate about the environment and protecting this is key to us. While NI Water is the largest electricity user in the country it is working hard to reduce the impact this has on the environment and to reduce its carbon footprint. This along with the little things everyone can do at home to save water can make a big difference helping to reduce waste and protect the environment.

“NI Water’s Annual School Competition is now well established and ever growing in popularity. The competition was designed to provide a channel for Key Stage 2 pupils to use their creative talents and share with others the message that saving water can also save electricity, energy and money, which is not only good for us but also good for the environment.

“Our judges had a difficult task in selecting the category finalists, as the standard of work was – as always – very high.  Thank you to everyone who took part, whether you submitted a poster, provided an idea or encouraged your school to join in.”
